I think I paid 2 euros for this book at a vide-grenier last summer... A bargain! You could grab it for a few pounds and it would still be worth it!

Type of text : Poem
Author or source : Helene Benait
Intended age of students : Key Stage 2/3/4
Source reference : 9782742729494

Approaches :
You may want to use this book for your children to listen to poetry, read it or even write it. Each poem focuses on a specific sound.
You could read the poem for the children to guess what the main sound it ; you could get them to listen/read for specific words about a topic ; you could use one of the poems as a template so they write their own poems.

Rationale :

This book could actually also easily be used at KS4 (I did use it with a Y10 class on National Poetry Day !).

This book can help you and your children when you are teaching phonics as each poem covers a single sound with different graphemes.

Outcomes :
The children will really enjoy the silliness of the poems and the pictures whilst learning (more) about certain phonemes.

Topics or themes :
There are poems about body parts, family, animals, a spider and a fly, as well as food.... and much more !!

Grammar :
Too many grammar points to mention here…

Time required :

You could do a poem now and then to reinforce certain sounds and topics.

You can find out more about the author and other books she has written here.
