I fell in love with Simon, Stéphanie Blake’s main character, in "Caca boudin" when my son (now 16) was a toddler. Now my pupils cannot get enough of him and I am glad of it!!

This is Stephanie Blake’s unique version of "The boy who cried wolf"!

Language of text: French
Type of text: picture book
Author or source: Stephanie Blake
Intended age of students: Key Stages 1/2/3

This book, like others in the series about Simon the rabbit, is very repetitive; the children will therefore love joining in with "au loup!" and "le petit lapin faisait ce qu’il voulait" when you read it to them for the 1st and the 2nd times. They will enjoy joining in with actions too in order to show that they know what is happening in the story.

This is the type of story which you can just read as a treat to a class or group of children; it doesn’t have to take long but will leave good memories for sure!

Older children could think of jobs or other things which they have to do but don’t want to and could try to avoid doing by shouting "au loup!"; they can use their dictionaries to write them down; these will make up their own version of the story.
