On Thursday 18th June, RaLFF went to visit the school which won the competition to name him. Nicola, their French teacher, warned us that the children were very excited about it... and that was an understatement! They were so keen and enthusiastic, especially as they got on the bus, wide-eyed, amazed... Their faces and comments were exactly what I'd been hoping for when I set out to achieve the French mobile library dream. There are no words to describe that feeling today...
Each one of the 6 KS2 classes was invited on RaLFF to have a look around then sit down on a cushion to have a story read to them in French. I decided to read "Petit Bleu et Petit Jaune" because it is such a great and fun story suitable from Y3-Y6 but also because that is the book Callum, the winner, received a signed copy of. I thought it would be special if he was the only one who owned the same book everyone had been read and I feel it was a good move!
Some children from after-school club were invited to go (back) on the bus. This time we got the puppet theatre out and mostly took it in turns to put on short puppet shows in French. That was great fun too!
All in all... that was RaLFF's only trip this week but it was a very successful one indeed!
