As it is my 14th book blog (wow, I can’t believe I have written so many already!) I hope you will forgive me for going back to one of my favourite charaters ever, Loup. Let’s be honest… Je l’adore  !!

I actually have 17 copies of this book available on loan if anyone woud like to borrow them; a Y7 class at Emmanuel College at Whickham have used them with their teacher, Catherine Allen, who very kindly sent me the word document which she devised and is attached to this blog with her permission.

There are lots of resources online to inspire you: my favourite are here, here and an amazing one here with lots of links to more resources as well as many ideas of books to help teach colours! Some of them you will recognise too!

You can buy the book from Little Linguist here and a Loup toy (essential in my opinion!!) here!

Here is the bulk of the blog! Enjoy!

Language of text: French

Approaches:

This truly is one of my favourite stories ever. You can read it as a one-off, a story as a treat, or you could do base your teaching of colours for instance on it.
An essential accessory for every “Le loup qui…” story is the Loup soft toy which you can get here for £12.99. Children adore him! I give it to one child and every time the word “loup” comes up they have to pass him to someone else near them. They all end of listening out for “loup” as they are so keen to make sure no one keeps it for longer than is necessary and they all get a go!!
As I read the story, I get the children to give me thumbs up if they think Loup is happy, thumbs down if he is not, or I ask them: “Heureux ou malheureux?”.

Outcomes:

As well as benefiting from listening to/reading a fun story they can join in with, the children will be encouraged to think at the end about accepting themselves for who they are, which is what Loup does as he realises that trying to be someone he is not only makes him unhappy.
This book can help introduce or reinforce colours and days of the week.

Topics or themes:
Days of the week; colours; saying how you are feeling; accepting yourself for who you are.

Grammar:
Adjectives.

How much time required:

20 minutes – half a term

If you liked Loup in this story… here are some more books about him!

Which other ones do you use?
