Welcome to this month’s round up!
I am sorry if you have been waiting for my exciting (and also sad) news… because I am not yet in a position to share either… This is what happens when you have to rely on other people for things to progress! Hopefully in mid-July…
If you wanted to work with me this term, I have still got 12th July and 19th July available as I type… but be quick! I have started to take bookings for the next academic year too. Click here for up-to-date information.
In my podcast last month, I reflected on the place of culture in our languages lessons. You can listen to my thoughts by clicking here.
Look out for my next email around mid-July… It will be the last one of our academic year here in England!
Till then, look after yourself.
A bientôt!
Nathalie

RESOURCES & OPPORTUNITIES

OPPORTUNITIES IN THE NORTH EAST OF ENGLAND
  • A special conference for all schools in the region to celebrate primary language learning will be held at Beamish hall Hotel on 9 July. Attendance is FREE. Some great speakers are lined up… and I will be there with my bus!! There will be a number of presentations by pupils whose teachers have taken part in intensive language learning courses in France and Spain with funding from the ERASMUS+ programme. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/celebrating-primary-languages-tickets-57088297635
  • Invitation to ALLNE schools from Linguacuisine, Newcastle University.
Linguacuisine invites teachers to bring a group of pupils (key stage 2 or 3 – max. of 32) for a free  session next half-term in the Digital Kitchen and in the Languages Resources Centre. The combined visit lasts between 2 hours and 2hrs 30.
Some funding is available to support transport by bus.
Pupils will use the Linguacuisine app to learn a vocabulary set, cook a dish and eat it. The chef’s recommendation is to try the French crêpe recipe as pupils can manage to cook and eat one during the visit. Other languages and recipes are possible, but the crêpes are a tried and tested favourite – first come, first served!
Please contact : linguacuisine@gmail.com to make a booking. NB Dates depend on availability in the Digital Kitchen and the LRC.
Learn about Linguacuisine on https://linguacuisine.com and choose a language and recipe.
  • Tailored visits (for schools in county Durham) to France and Germany at competitive process for KS2 and KS3 – contact Karen.smith@durham.gov.uk
