You will find below some activities which can be used to celebrate the European day of Languages on 26th September; these could be used any time of the year as well to raise the profile of languages!
These books would be ideal for the European Day of Languages on 26th September or for any celebrations of languages throughout the year of course. In no particular order: Patates, Lionel Le Néouanic, Seuil Jeunesse What happens when a family of sweet potatoes moves next door to potatoes?
Once again this year I applied for a £75 grant through Europe Direct Durham and this is what I am planning to do: Activities paid for by Europe Direct Durham grant There is a very comprehensive document about useful phrases on the phone which I have come across and you may want to choose from: SAVOIR-TELEPHONER.
I wanted to share with you the ALL NE's annual competition in which my pupils and I took part. You can open the details here: it was all about Martin Luther King Jr and our pupils' dreams, very inspiring! You obviously can't take part in the competition anymore but you most certainly will enjoy it as an activity.
I based my activities for EDoL that year around a lot of the free resources you can get which are published by the European Commission. You can find a link to how to get those resources (whilst they last!) here alongside some other carefully selected links.
Please feel free to use the attached documents which helped me plan a full day of activities for everyone for EDL on 25th September 2014 at St Mary's, Blackhill. Get in touch if you want more info about the artefacts we used for the quizzes; we got a grant from Europe Direct North East to buy them and prizes, which was really helpful.
